108 Bipartisan Members of Congress Urge DOL to Reconsider Overtime Proposal

Breaking news. 108 Bipartisan Members of Congress, led by Representatives Cresent Hardy (NV) and Steve Knight (CA), sent a letter to Department of Labor Secretary Tom Perez expressing serious concerns with the proposed Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime rule.

In the letter, congressional leaders urge the Department to reconsider moving forward with the rule as drafted noting the unintended consequences for employers and employees.

The Partnership has continually raised concerns about the proposal’s 113% increase in the salary threshold determining who is eligible for overtime pay. This will have a disproportionate impact on certain geographic areas, small businesses, nonprofits, higher education and other industries where salaries tend be lower.

The Partnership strongly commends these Members of Congress for their leadership in expressing how this rule will impact employers and employees across the country.
