Partnership Statement On President’s Proposed Overtime Rule

The Partnership to Protect Workplace Opportunity released the following statement:

“Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Labor proposed a regulatory scheme that if finalized will force millions of entry and mid-level managers and professionals across the country to lose their salaried status and be involuntarily converted to hourly employees. These workers, many of whom started as hourly employees, will face fewer career advancement opportunities, reduced access to workplace flexibility, less autonomy and independence and diminished prospects for incentive bonuses and other performance rewards. It will negatively impact workers, business operations, consumers and job creation and will not result in additional income for hourly workers.”
